I have a model 919.167630 air compressor that is not building up pressure nearly as fast as it use to. Recently while using an air tool that I have used on numerous occasions, the unit would not keep up this time and just continued to run.

I let the unit cool over night and the next day it would build up pressure but not nearly as fast. I have checked the cylinder piston, valve plate, and the O-rings.

The check valve is not forcing all the air being compressed into the tank. Some of the air is leaking into the outlet tube.

Therefore, the outlet tube is getting hot, The air should be cool coming out of the outlet tube. Most likely the ball is sticking in the check valve. You may be able to clean the check valve and free the ball to solve the problem. Otherwise, replace the check valve. The part number for the check valve is.
